Itinerary
Our Welsh holiday begins today at the Metropole Hotel and Spa in Llandrindod Wells. You can check in anytime from 2pm, and then you're at leisure to start exploring this attractive town in mid-Wales.
Colloquially known to locals as 'Llandod', the town boomed in the 19th century as a spa town and retains plenty of grand Victorian and Edwardian architecture in its small centre, including our historic hotel. Regularly voted among the UK's happiest places to live, there are many green spaces to explore. Take a stroll round the peaceful lake, admiring the rugged scenery, or walk among the mature woodlands of the Grade II-listed Rock Park - founded in the 1960s and still featuring a spring and the original Pump Room.
This evening, return to the hotel to meet the Tour Manager and your travel group, and then we enjoy our first dinner together.

The Holiday was well organised and provided a great taster of the pleasures of visiting mid wales. Our tour manager Annette was very good and ensured the tour ran smoothly, and hence it met and surpassed our expectations. The tour introduced the beauty of mid wales and made you feel like you would like to spend more time there in the future. The hotel was very well run, with excelent food and very attentive staff.

Thoroughly enjoyable trip. Excellent tour rep whose historic knowledge of Wales was outstanding. Hotel was a little dated but clean, the staff were excellent and the food for an organised tour was really good with plenty of choice. The train journeys were good and the scenery beautiful. Highlights were the trip to Elan and excellent information from the ranger who was knowledgeable and funny. Powys Caslte stood out and the museum at Aberystwyth station after we got off the steam train was really interesting. The driver of the coach was also really good taking us safely along some very dodgy roads to see the lovely mid Wales scenery.

Wonderful countryside, canal replacement was a good idea. Great views from the trains that hugged the contours of the hills with beautiful valleys below. Doubt by some re Welsh lesson changed to “good fun”. Museums interesting too. The hotel was almost perfect and had character with the layout of room & en-suite unpredictable
