Day 3 – Exploring Cape Town

Discovering Cape Town

Enjoy a free day in Cape Town today and get to know the city better. When it comes to views, Cape Town has most other cities beat, and if you want to get closer to those views, you can hike the mountains, including Table Mountain, and spend time on the stunning beaches. The Mother City is also a great place for coffee lovers, as Cape Town loves its coffee, or you can visit a brewery or just take a wander and sample some of the excellent street food on offer. Or, choose one of our optional excursions, available at a supplement.

Day 4 – Exploring Cape Town

Exploring Cape Town

Enjoy a second free day in Cape Town and dig deeper into this beautiful city. Visit a museum and an art gallery and experience some world class culture. Take your camera to the beach and take some immersive shots of nature and the alluring coastline. Shop for souvenirs, take a hike in the mountains, and visit one of the city's amazing food markets. Or, choose one of our optional excursions for a guided tour.

Day 5 – The Blue Train

The Blue Train

It's time to leave Cape Town today as you transfer from your hotel in the city to the station, where the elegant Blue Train waits for you. This luxurious train will take you from Cape Town to Pretoria, travelling through diverse and spectacular scenery on your 54 hour journey.

Canapes are served as the train departs the station and you get comfortable in your sumptuous accommodation. Lunch is served in the nostalgic dining car, transporting you to a bygone era. After lunch you can relax, curl up with a good book, and watch the landscape drift by your window.

An elegant dinner is served in the restaurant car, where a dress code of jackets or waistcoats is requested for men. After, retire to the Club Car for an after dinner drink, and get to know your fellow passengers.

Day 6 - Kimberley

Kimberley

A continental or full English breakfast is served in the dining car, enjoyed at your leisure. Relax and watch the stunning scenery pass by, until it's time for lunch. After lunch you'll arrive at the Open Mine Museum, where you'll take a tour of this historical mine. Following the tour the train departs once more and takes you to Kimberley Station where you're greeted with a glass of sherry. The train departs again before dinner, which is served onboard, and you make your way to Pretoria.

Day 7 – Arrive Pretoria

Arrive Pretoria

Take your breakfast in the restaurant car whenever you please, as the Blue Train rolls along, showcasing the inspiring landscapes of this part of South Africa. After lunch onboard the train you'll arrive in Pretoria, where you disembark and take your memories of this once-in-a-lifetime journey with you.

Once in Pretoria you'll be transferred to your hotel. Choose from our handpicked 5* hotels, on a B&B basis.

Inbound Travel

Days 8 & 9 – Johannesburg to the UK

Spend some time appreciating your hotel today or experience a little of Pretoria, before it's time to head to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK. You'll be transferred from your hotel to Johannesburg Airport for your flight.

You'll arrive back in London, filled with memories to last you a lifetime.
