Great Rail Journeys was founded in 1973 and, since then, we have become the UK's leading provider of holidays by rail. We combine our passion for travel with five decades of experience to offer escorted tours, river cruises and tailormade independent holidays in more than 40 countries across the world.

And the many awards we've won over the years suggest we're pretty good at it too! While we're obviously proud of this recognition, our focus is always on our customers - we take more than 50,000 on holiday each year. We care passionately about our customers and understand how our attention to detail and those small touches make a holiday special - alongside the knowledge and experience in navigating the world.

Gezellig

Yes, it's a real word! It's Dutch and sums up our working culture perfectly. Gezellig describes a warmth in the heart created by togetherness, similar to the Danish 'hygge'. The first thing you'll notice in the office is our friendly team. We're incredibly proud of this and it's something new colleagues and visitors comment on. While gezellig means something different to everyone, at its heart is a spirit of warmth and happiness. This epitomises life at Great Rail Journeys.

Every opinion matters

We don't believe in hierarchy at Great Rail Journeys. What we do believe in is that everyone is equally valuable. In our relaxed but professional environment, our CEO, Dave, encourages everyone to speak up and challenge the things that they think could be improved. It's important that everyone is respected and feels able to offer their opinions as part of the family. Dave also hosts regular Town Hall meetings to keep everyone updated on our progress.

Fancy being in Italy one week, Switzerland the next, then Japan or Canada? Are you outgoing, well-organised, tactful and have great leadership skills? Do you appreciate beautiful scenery and wonderful sights? If so, you could be a great fit as a Tour Manager. Our fantastic TMs are the face of GRJ, leading each escorted tour to ensure our customers have a great holiday.
